It is a reader's dream to put his favorite book into the big screen. It feels like you've finally seen what's the actual faces of the characters or the scenarios that you've been imagining in your head. Although some would disagree of how the book's content differ from the movie, many actually look forward to it. And among all the Filipino Wattpad books, these three movies made it to the top and were stared by the country's favorite love teams of today's generation.
A 2014 romance-comedy film written by SGwannaB or Bianca Bernardino. It was starred by Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, and directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina. The movie is about a 17-year-old teenage girl named Athena Dizon (Kathryn) who became Kenji de los Reyes' (Daniel) fake girlfriend for a certain reason, to make Kenji's ex girlfriend jealous. Everything then starts to get messy when they fell inlove with each other. It became a success in the first day of showing with the total of P15 million earning. All in all, it has a total gross of P296 Million worldwide.
One of the most read Wattpad story in the history is Denny's Diary ng Panget with 12 million reads in total. After it was published in the year 2013 under PSICOM, it then became a movie in 2014 which was starred by Nadine Lustre and James Reid. Diary ng Panget: The Movie is a comedy-drama film directed by Andoy Ranay which mainly talks about Eya Rodriguez, a girl who works as a personal maid for a rich man named Cross Sanford. Their love-hate relationship led them to love each other in the end. The movie was a hit and earned P120 Million.
In wattpad, it was titled as "The Bet" which is a Pop Fiction book written by Kimberly Joy Villanueva or ilurvbooks as everyone know. Just the Way you Are is a romantic comedy-drama movie in 2015 which was directed by Theodore Boborol. The whole movie circles around the game of dare. Drake Sison (Enrique Gil) was bet by his friends to make Sophia Taylor (Liza Soberano) become his girl for a month and dumped her later on. Just the Way you Are became a success and earned a total of P100 Million.
Books turned into movies are in a different level. It basically promote the local works of outstanding Filipino authors and film makers. Indeed, we are undeniably good in everything, with the heart in art and a creative mind.
